Where ARE Those Clinical Trials Anyway?

At one time Waiora claimed that NCD was the subject of 14 clinical trials.

Their NCD website still says

Natural Cellular Defense is safe, clean, effective and has been the subject of 13 clinical studies. Natural Cellular Defense was the first zeolite liquid suspension, with a proven track record of success and a published clinical trial, it is the best zeolite product on the planet.

In Jan 2009, Waiora had the following listed on their website

Clinical Trials/ Studies

The following are a list of clinical trials and studies currently underway on Waiora's products. Results from these studies will be posted here at the conclusion of the trial or study pending formal publishing of the trial or study in peer-reviewed medical journals.

NOTE: The following are the only clinical studies recognized by the Company. Waiora realizes that any researcher has the right to conduct their own trials. There are many third-party studies being conducted that may be published that are not recognized or funded by the Company.

Natural Cellular Defense:

Natural Cellular Defense therapy in healthy individuals without chronic exposure to heavy metal toxins.
A short-term (7-day) trial in five individuals to evaluate changes in urinary excretion of heavy metals. Urinary excretion was measured with Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS).

Natural Cellular Defense therapy in healthy individuals and short-term "non-responders" without chronic exposure to heavy metal toxins
An intermediate-term (30-day) trial in twenty (20) individuals to evaluate changes in urinary excretion of heavy metals. Urinary excretion was measured with Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS).

Natural Cellular Defense therapy in otherwise healthy individuals with chronic, employment-related exposure to heavy metal toxins (WV Coal Miners)
A long-term (84-day), blinded, clinical trial in fifty (50) individuals to evaluate changes in urinary excretion of heavy metals and determine longevity of the effect. Urinary excretion was measured with Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS). Additionally, hair and saliva was collected at the beginning and the end of the trial and measured for heavy metal content.

Electrolyte levels with the use of Natural Cellular Defense
A trial to evaluate changes in vital serum electrolytes in healthy individuals following 30-day Natural Cellular Defense therapy.

Exercise recovery with Natural Cellular Defense
A trial to evaluate the effect of Natural Cellular Defense therapy on post-workout recovery-time in competitive athletes vs. non-competitive participants.

PH balancing with Natural Cellular Defense
A trial to evaluate the effect of short- vs long-term Natural Cellular Defense therapy on serum and salivary pH in healthy and compromised individuals.

Superior Fiber Blend:

Use of Superior Fiber Blend by individuals with diabetes mellitus and hypercholesterolemia
A 90-day trial to evaluate changes in hemoglobin-A1c and serum cholesterol.

    2009

If you were counting, there weren't 13 scientific clinical studies listed.

Today the "Studies" Page Looks Like this

Where are all the studies?

One study published in 2009 at Dove Press. 11 people took NCD for 7 days and 11 took it for 30 days, and their urine was measured and showed that they lost more heavy metals in the urine, than the control group that took the placebo. It wasn't 3rd party. It was done by Rik Deitsch, Jim Flowers (Rik's cousin and business partner, and manufacturer of the product), and Stewart Lonky, a principal in at least 2 companies owned by Rik Deitsch (according to corporationwiki.com)

  1. Why has the list of clinical scientific studies been removed from Waiora's main website, but Rik is still quoted as saying there are 13 done on the product on the Natural Cellular Defense site?
  2. If there are 13 clinical studies done on the Natural Cellular Defense, where are they?
  3. What ever happened to the Coal Miner's Study? You know, the one discussed in this interview of Rik Deitsch. There are some pretty specific claims made there, and I don't know of a single person who has EVER seen any proof that this study was done.  And you can see (above) that it was listed on the Waiora website in 2009. I REMEMBER how excited everyone was about the coal miner's study back in 2009. Why doesn't Waiora acknowledge EVEN that study?
  4. In one interview  Rik talks about that study. He also says

I have been invited to conduct an HIV trial on failed patients. These are patients that failed all of their medication, that have been on medications for such a long time that their particular virus has mutated to the point that the medications they're on are no longer effective. These patients are looking for some sort of stop gap, something that can keep their viral loads down while new drugs are being invented. So I've been invited to do a study with Liquid Zeolite and that population, and we'll probably do that this summer.

I wonder how that went? Although I must admit that before I wondered how that went, I wondered WHO would have invited a chemist do do a clinical trial on end stage HIV patients, using a nutritional product sold through a multilevel marketing company.

So what about those trials?

In the call that took place on October 26th, which you can hear excerpts from on this page "Why I No Longer Promote MLM Liquid Zeolite- Part 2" the speakers say that other companies use THEIR science. That isn't true. It doesn't look like Waiora even believes in those studies any more. Why else would they take them off the site?

There have been a lot of pretty serious claims made over the years based on studies that were said to have been done. Rik Deitsch has been critical in the past of companies that use the old studies done on zeolite powder.

From LIQUIDZEOLITE.org, which is claimed to be a 3rd party review site: (but we know isn't)

"Our advice, therefore, to anybody interested in using liquid zeolite is the following:

  1. Ask for a full 3rd party specification sheet (must be done by independent lab — not in-housegiving full elemental analysis (including any impurities), particle size analysis, micro analysis (bacterial and fungal content), and VOC (volatile organic compound) content. If any of this information is missing for a particular brand, don't buy it. (I did ask for that many times. Waiora wouldn't provide it)
  2. Ask for proof of zeolite content and quantity. This can take many different forms and might include powder diffraction analysis. As there are liquid zeolite products with no detectable zeolite in them this is very important. (I did ask for that many times. I finally had to send a sample to an independent lab myself)
  3. Avoid companies making unsubstantiated claims. Check out all claims made by a company, and if they cannot or will not substantiate them, the company should be avoided. (Oh I SO agree!)"

Yes I am finally taking that advice. I think that is good advice for all Waiora distributors to take.
