Waiora Kosher Label Fraud Follow Up

A couple of days ago I reported in this post (http://www.theliquidzeolitebook.com/zeoliteinformation/label-fraud-by-waiora-or-just-a-mistake/) that Waiora was carrying the AKC Kosher Certification logo on their boxes of Natural Cellular Defense. Waiora sent this note to the field in response to my post.

NCD switching from Kosher Pareve (AKC) to Circle K Kosher

While Natural Cellular Defense has always been Kosher, that designation can be provided by different kosher certifying agencies. In the United States alone, there are over 60 different certifying agencies, each with their own symbol.

Natural Cellular Defense is in the process of transitioning from one kosher certifying agency to another, due to the relocation of manufacturing facilities. For several years, we have been certified by the Atlanta Kashrus Commission (AKC) as Kosher Pareve. We will now be certified by The Organized Kashrus Laboratories (OK) or also known as the Circle K symbol. One certification is not better than another, as all certifying agencies adhere to strict standards.

Even though the new manufacturing facilities are already kosher certified, part of the certification for each product requires the rabbi to review the manufacturing process in person, which is scheduled for early January, at which time NCD will be officially designated OK.

During this short interim nothing has changed with the product: the ingredients are the same, the proprietary process is the same and the manufacturing facility is kosher. Even so, to avoid confusion during the short transition, the AKC symbol has been covered on any existing bottle labels.

Since future labels will be printed in large quantities, no symbol of any certifying agency will be printed on product labels, so that the appropriate certifying agency documentation can be available on the waiora.com website for anyone wishing to view, print or share its kosher status.

This morning I called the Atlantic Kashruth Commission. You can find their contact information at the bottom of their website. They informed me that Waiora Natural Cellular Defense is NOT certified Kosher by them, and has not been certified since June

During "this short interim" (1/2 year of what is supposed to be an annual certification process) many things have changed with the product. Everyone who had product before October and purchased again after October knows very well that the product is different. James Flowers' disciples (NCD Wellness) are claiming that the proprietary process belongs to James Flowers, and the reason the product is so different is that the new Natural Cellular Defense is Rik Deitsch's 'best guess' as to how to make the product.

We must only take Waiora's word that the new facility is kosher, since they refuse to divulge the name of the facility.

The Rabbi at the Atlantic Kashruth Commission stated that if anyone has received product since the certificate expired THIS SUMMERthey should simply return it to Waiora for a full refund, and request a current letter of certification of Kosher status before purchasing product again. This is something Waiora has admitted they can not produce because they do not have one (yet… of course).

In the meantime, people who purchased product since summer 2011 should be aware that the box bore the Atlantic Kashruth Commission even though they were aware that they had no right to do so. The company would love to be able to say they had to use up the old boxes, but we know that is not true. In the recorded call which you can listen to excerpts of here (http://www.theliquidzeolitebook.com/zeoliteinformation/liquid-zeolite-why-i-no-longer-promote-it-by-shelley-penney/i-do-not-sell-liquid-zeolite-part-2/, Stan Cherelstein clearly says that they are switching to new glass bottles because they are having clumping issues with the (new) formula of NCD, and they need to make new boxes because the glass bottles are larger than the old plastic bottles.

This means that the company must have deliberately put the AKC Kosher Pareve logo on the box even though they knew that they were not certified. Why am I not surprised?
